QSAC STATE MONITORING AUDIT
(QUALITY SINGLE ACCOUNTABILITY CONTINUUM)

JAN. 20, 2010

The N.J. Department of Education completed its monitoring of the district on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010. This process will take place every three years and includes five major areas:

  • Governance (board of ed policies and procedures, operation, etc.)
  • Fiscal (all  financial  dealings  of  the  district;  payroll,  accounts  payable,  bidding,  purchase  order process, etc.)
  • Personnel (certification,  highly  qualified  status,  training, mentoring,  appointment  procedures,
    etc.)
  • Operations (all required programs, facilities, school safety, etc.)
  • Instruction  and  Programs (curriculum,  courses  of  study,  graduation  requirements,  record
    keeping, etc.).

The review of these aspects of the program were done by a desk audit for items previously submitted to and approved by the state and an on-site visit on Jan. 20 to discuss the requirements of each area with district staff, and to do building walk-throughs to inspect the facilities.

The preliminary report given to the Superintendent and Board Secretary at the exit conference was that the district  is  categorized as  “Highly Performing” in all  five  sections.   Perfect  scores were  received  in three of the five; Personnel (100/100), Operations (120/120) and Fiscal (100/100).

Under the direction of Dr. Cocchiola district personnel prepared for this monitoring process  for over a
year. The results are very encouraging and  rewarding.  All district personnel, administrators, business
administrator and  staff,  teachers,  supervisors,  custodians,  secretaries and  committee members are  to be  congratulated  and  thanked  for  their  work  getting  ready  for  this  important  evaluation  of  district activities.
