New Jersey Ask testing for students in grades 5 and 6 will take place the week of May 11th. Please make sure the students get to bed early, have a nutritious breakfast and arrive to school on time.
The second half of May is filled with many exciting activities including a Barnes and Noble fund raiser to be held at the Barnes and Noble store in Clifton on May 19th from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. As we finish our school year, the month of June will bring us the Sixth Grade Transition Ceremony on Friday, June 19th and the “Graduation Ceremony” for all of our Kindergarten students from Jefferson and Gavlak schools on June 23rd at 9:15 am. The children will sing songs and receive their certificates for the completion of their Kindergarten program.

Mission Statement:
The Wallington Elementary Schools believe that all students should have the opportunity to learn within a positive and challenging environment and to acquire life-long skills that empowers them to become responsible and productive members of the community and citizens of the world.

Teachers seek to create a classroom environment that promotes student success by working with parents and the community in a partnership to help develop the academic, social, emotional and physical well-being of all of our children. This is accomplished through implementation of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards that focuses upon the infusion of critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills into nine content areas. These areas include language arts literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages, health and physical education, technology, visual/performing arts and career/family and life-skills education.

Implementation of the standards allows the school to respond to the inevitable changes that take place in our family, our community and the world.

Elementary School students will demonstrate:

 · Positive self-esteem, self discipline, and self expression

· Effective communication and social skills

· Critical/creative thinking, problem solving, decision-making and appropriate risk taking

· Information literacy through the use of technology

· Individual excellence and desire to become a life-long learner
