Gavlak Elementary:
September marks the beginning of another school year. We welcome
all with great enthusiasm into this educational experience that
promotes academic excellence.
On behalf of the administration and staff I would like to invite
you to partake in this experience by visiting our school,
attending related functions and becoming an active member of the
PTA.
NOTICE: In our continuing efforts to provide a safe environment
for our children, please be mindful of the traffic pattern on
the streets surrounding the Jefferson School. Wagner Avenue is
now "one way" from Mt. Pleasant Avenue towards Chestnut Street.
Pine Street is now "one way" from Chestnut Street to Mt.
Pleasant Avenue. With everyone's cooperation, these directions
should improve the drop-off and pick-up of children. |
Mission Statement:
The Wallington Elementary Schools believe
that all students should have the opportunity to learn within a
positive and challenging environment and to acquire life-long
skills that empowers them to become responsible and productive
members of the community and citizens of the world.
Teachers seek to create a classroom environment that promotes
student success by working with parents and the community in a
partnership to help develop the academic, social, emotional and
physical well-being of all of our children. This is accomplished
through implementation of the New Jersey Core Curriculum
Standards that focuses upon the infusion of critical thinking,
problem solving and decision-making skills into nine content
areas. These areas include language arts literacy, mathematics,
science, social studies, world languages, health and physical
education, technology, visual/performing arts and career/family
and life-skills education.
Implementation of the standards allows the school to respond to
the inevitable changes that take place in our family, our
community and the world.
Elementary School students will
demonstrate:
·
Positive
self-esteem, self discipline, and self expression
·
Effective
communication and social skills
·
Critical/creative thinking, problem solving, decision-making and
appropriate risk taking
·
Information
literacy through the use of technology
·
Individual
excellence and desire to become a life-long learner
