Wallington is a small community, slightly less than one square mile in area, located eight miles from New York City on the banks of the Passaic River. The district has three schools serving over 1,325 students: Jefferson School (K-3), Frank W. Gavlak School (K-6), and Wallington Jr./Sr. High School (7-12). Students are encouraged to participate in the vast range of co-curricular programs (i.e. student government, journalism, drama, athletics, music, clubs, Academic Decathlon, etc). There is a strong connection between the school and community as evidenced by Parent-Teacher groups: the PTA at the elementary level, and the Home & School Organization at the secondary school level. The school district promotes traditional values important to the community- Loyalty, Family, Patriotism, and Tolerance towards others.
