The School Counseling Department
The School Counseling Department is an essential part of the educational experience. Our work is a collaborative effort involving school counselors, administrators, teachers, the Child Study Team, the school nurse, families, and—most importantly—students. Together, we support each student’s academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary development.
Our Mission
School counseling is a personalized, student-centered service designed to help students understand themselves, set meaningful goals, and make informed decisions. Counselors help students navigate challenges, explore opportunities, and develop the skills needed to thrive both in school and beyond.
Meeting with Your School Counselor
School counselors meet with students throughout the year for academic planning, personal/social check-ins, and post-secondary guidance. If a student would like to request a meeting, they may:
Email their counselor directly, or
Submit a request through SmartPass.
We encourage students and families to reach out whenever they need support.
Parents and guardians are welcome to contact the School Counseling Department at any time to discuss questions or concerns related to their child’s progress or well-being. To reach a counselor or schedule an appointment, please call (973) 777-0808 followed by the extension indicated next to the staff member's name on the right-hand section of this page.
